Your Role, Your Impact
As the Head of Fire Safety Compliance, will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for a portfolio of buildings. The head of fire safety compliance will lead a team of fire safety compliance managers and work closely with Safety Assurance Business Partners, Health and Safety compliance managers, Property Managers, Development Manager and Regional Managers to ensure compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Fire Safety Compliance Managers providing line manager support
- Ensure that the FRA QA process is fit for purpose and provides clarity on which remedial actions have life safety priority
- Allocate work as required using a risk-based Approach
- Work in close liaison with the Head of Technical Fire Safety to find solutions and respond to business demands
- Quality assess FRA’s against fire strategy compliance, associated reports and building characteristics
- Liaise with FRA providers to ensure accuracy
- Highlight key document gaps
- Review the fire related golden thread (PEEPS. Life safety systems works, Information Boxes etc.)
- Investigate Fire Safety incidents and provide higher level technical advice and guidance for prevention purposes, as required
- Produce fire safety risk-based list of actions for operations
- Ensure Data station is updated
- Maintain a fire safety risk register
- Monitor emerging risks and initiate mitigation measures
- Investigate and report on fire-related incidents, near misses, or enforcement notices, ensuring lessons learned are actioned
- Update building safety managers to ensure engagement message is aligned
- Support due diligence/mobilisation
- Provide regular reports as required on performance and learning opportunities
- Monitor the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules for fire safety systems and report on performance
- Review the key elements of risk assessments for higher risk buildings, checking that higher risk actions are being actioned appropriately
- Provide regular Board-level reports, including fire safety KPIs
- Track FRA actions, particularly those higher risk actions related to higher risk buildings closed and make sure progress is reported at Board-level
- Liaison with Senior Safety Assurance Business Partners in relation to fire safety and continually liaise with them on the delivery of inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 4 in fire safety
- Ideally, a level 4 Diploma in fire risk assessment
- Proven Experience of reviewing Fire Risk assessment and other fire Safety Compliance documents
- Hold industry relevant accreditations such as IFE, IFSM, CIOB, IWFM, RICS, TPI
- Experience in managing a team of Fire Safety practitioners
- Be passionate about fire safety and ensuring that homes under our management are safe for residents
- Excellent knowledge and understanding or Relevant Documents including
- Approved document B
- British standards
- The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety order 2005
- Fire Safety Act 2021
- Fire Safety England Regulations 2022
- Building Safety Act 2022
- Hold a full UK driving licence
